John Pate of Dora is the state’s senior safe driver, with 42 years of accident-free driving under his belt. ![]() UPS today announced 21 elite drivers from Alabama are among 1,445 newly inducted worldwide into the Circle of Honor, an honorary organization for UPS drivers who have achieved 25 or more years of accident-free driving.Īlabama boasts 138 active Circle of Honor drivers with a combined 3,953 years of accident-free driving. ![]() The cooperatives are members of AREA, a federation of 22 not-for-profit electric cooperatives that provides dependable electricity to more than 1 million Alabamians in 64 counties. Two safety representatives from the Alabama Rural Electric Association (AREA) were on site with the crews. They brought bucket trucks, digger trucks, pole trailers, tree clearing equipment, mechanic service trucks as well as food, water, warm clothing and other necessities for the icy conditions.
